It seems that the lack of punishment Sony recieved for installing unauthorised rootkits on their customers PCs has meant that others are joining the bandwagon in infecting the machines of people that pay money for their product Evil or Very Mad 20th Century Fox appear to have included a rootkit on the German version of Mr & Mrs Smith. While this is fortunately not as damaging as the Sony one, it's still something to be wary about.

It still amazes me why the people behind these schemes fail to understand that if anything these things INCREASE piracy Roll Eyes. Why would customers wanting to own a movie pay money for something that could secretly install security holes?

I'd have to agree on the CD issue. I am still buying DVDs for the moment tho as I only play them on my linux box and so currently unaffected by these anti-customer measures. I will however refuse to buy any that I do learn to have such measures installed no-matter how much I want them. The only way to fight these issues it seems is for us to vote with our wallets. Sad

For it is simply the ability to play something I have paid for in whatever manner I decide, if they dont like that then they will be the ones missing out on my money.
