How easy is it to setup nice fair sharing with that? Before I switched to using dd-wrt I used to set up Linux boxes (Slakware/Debian/Gentoo) to share the connection. I managed to manually setup some rules with iptables & tc which did ok tho having a nice GUI would have been a bit better since I didn't ever get round to learning the finer points of shaping connections. _________________ Whedon: We will rule over this time slot, and we will call it... | M0n0Wall is freeBSD based i believe but that doesnt really make a difference because you never have to visit a command line. Everything is done via a web interface and its very self explanatory. Its very easy to get to grips with as no installation is needed at all, the config is saved to floppy disk and read when ever you reboot the box. The only problem ive had with that is when my config disk got corrupted so i lost everything (i should have backed it up really). So basically all you need is an old PC, 2 NICs and a floppy drive. |

Ahh, I see. I suppose I should have tried that before moving to the hardware router.
I always read that pf on the BSDs made for a better firewall but never got round to experimenting myself. While I would have liked to learn how to add the rules manually, I admit now that having a web-based GUI is far better since there just isn't enough time to learn everything. _________________ Whedon: We will rule over this time slot, and we will call it...
